Hi I am just exploring some audio ideas with the Canon Powershot SX50 hotshoe.

Does anyone know if there is such thing as a camera-attachable audio adaptor that would allow for wireless transmission of audion from a microphone to the hotshoe mount?

Thanks,
Dave

The cameras hot shoe only allows for triggering signals and ettl data to and from compatible flash guns not for any other device. Most DSLR's have a 3.5mm jack socket for connecting microphones. A wireless microphone system could be connected via the 3.5mm jack socket.

As far as I can make out that model only has a USB output and an HDMI output connections. There is no option for external microphones. So it's not possible to connect an external mic to the camera. The hot shoe is for flash only with no other connections. The Canon video cameras that do have a wireless microphone option ( Bluetooth ) use a special mini hot shoe with specialist connections

Do you mean XLR? the eXtensible Markup Language isn't great for audio.

You could certainly mount an external wireless mic receiver and recorder to the hotshoe or tripod mount points. You'd then need to re-synch audio and video.
