As in the title, the budget is about 350 quid
 
Sigma 10-20 or Tokina 12-24 (11-16 is best but way over your budget)
I have the Sigma and love it, the Tokina gives you a 2mm loss at the wide end and gains you 4mm at the other. Your call on that.
 
Do you mean buying used.
Tonkina is around 500 though
 
The Sigma is bang on your budget. As stated the 11-16 is apparently awesome but much more expensive. The Tokina 12-24 can be had for around £350 used, if you really must have new then the Sigma is definitely the way to go. I love the images from mine it is the best option in that price bracket. Tamron do a widey 10-24 but its regarded as a little inferior to the Sigma but you do get the extra 4mm at the long end.
I would say a biased +1 for the Sigma. :naughty:
 
Well I don't mind buying used if it's trusted seller.
 
You should check out the classifieds on here as well. An immaculate Sigma on offer at the moment .

What version of sigma 10-20 do you have?
 
I went for the Sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6 EX DC HSM, I tried out the Sigma 10-20mm f3.5 EX DC HSM version before buying but image quality was indistingushable from the cheaper model and I couldnt justify the extra cost. The f3.5 also has an 82mm filter as opposed to the 77mm and that bigger filter size is just a pain and moves you into COKIN Z filter territory (expensive) and substantially dearer round glass filters as well.
The constant f3.5 aperture is to my mind not a selling point on such a wide angle lens as the DoF is huge anyway at all apertures compared to telephoto where the narrow DoF means every f stop and half stop counts for keeping shutter speeds up to eliminate camera shake and maximising what is generally a narrow DoF anyway. These things just aren't an issue at the wide end.

You still need Z pro filters for 77mm threads with the 10-20, it's the angle of view that causes the Vignetting!
 
I have a P series holder specifically for my Sigma (cheap Chinese knock off, Cokin holder is too costly to butcher :eek: ) with the first 2 slots hacksawed off and the edges filed smooth so that there is only provision for 1 rotating filter and just one single slot for a square filter. (Has anyone ever used the 2 front slots ? I have never had a need to stack more than one filter) it works a treat and no vignetting. :thumbs:
 
I might try that, I never use the two outer slots!
