Hi All,

Any suggestions. Am Getting the blank screen through Firefox and IE but not with Safari which is just odd

I've looked for anything obvious with permissions etc but am stumped now

Thanks for helping

Hugh

Is this looking at a specific wordpress install or the wordpress.org/.com site?

My first thought would be script blocking of some sort.

Is there areason not to give a link?

no - sorry missed that - www.hughmillerphotography.co.uk

I thought that but can't see anything - and after googling the issue I thought it was because I installed a new plug in yesterday, but I've removed that again and still have the same issue

Hugh

no, I've just noticed it seems to have stopped working in Safari also. It shouldn't be a frameset at all but there appears to be no attempt to run Wordpress. I think the reference for the frameset comes up as a result of web forwarding on tht domain name.

Hugh

Have you done anything at that then?

Whats the 'real' address?

can you get in to the admin panel?

Works fine here in Opera 9.52, Firefox 1.5, and IE6.

can you get in to the admin panel?

no - I could the Safari earlier - which wasn't great but workable.

Rob - can I just check - you're accessing my site? sorry I don't mean to seem patronising in any way. Just checking

sorry - my mistake, www.hughmillerphotography.co.uk. is the real site, although I'm not sure what was ahappening with the domain forwarding
hughmillerphotography.com
and hmphotography.uk.com are also forwarded to the same domain and both have the same issues

Make sure all permissions are correct, the database is installed. Also, post on the Wordpress forums, you'll get a better response there in terms of expertise.

Make sure php is running on the server and check your server error logs, it sounds like there could be a php error somewhere in the code, perhaps the theme if you're using a custom theme?

Thanks KayJay,

Strangely I can't and have just tried it on my partners laptop to try to ensure I'm having no issues as a result of memory caching with the same result, what browser are you using?

No problem! I've done some daft things in the past, but yes, http://www.hughmillerphotography.co.uk/ is working fine here.

Hang on a sec, I'll post a screeny.

Windows XP, only SP2.

that'd be the one cheers Rob-very strange though

edit it add - have just tried it in Google Chrome and it seems to work fine.

Hold on. I'll run it through Adobe BrowserLab and see what that throws up.

I think it might be a problem local to your machine, because I just ran it through BrowserLab which is a hosted application by Adobe and it's showing your site in IE6 and IE7 on Windows and FF3 and Safari 3 in OSX.

Thank you for doing that. Its running on FF 3 on my machine as well now, so I'm stumped, but it makes me think it was a hosint, or local issue earlier. I'll have a look at the apache logs and try and figure out whats going on

Many Thanks

Hugh

Just read this thread and tested the site seem to be working fine on IE8, I would try resetting all all your IE advanced settings by going to tools > internet options > advanced tab... that might work

seems to be fine here too... have you looked at your compatability settings in IE8?

Also, which version of wordpress are you using? Try changing the theme to the default kubric one and having a look again, it could be code errors in the custom theme you are using...

He's using WordPress 2.8.4.

I'm wondering about the theme errors, because php is executed on the server side and the site is working for everyone else, I'm tempted to rule out php errors. I would have a look at the error logs though, for sure.

When I run it through Service Capture everything seems to be loading fine. The CSS files, the js files... everything. The only thing missing is a favicon, but that wouldn't cause a white screen.

Thanks all, from what I can work out this was caused by one of two issues. There was nothing in the server logs that indicated any problems.

1. I think there was some sort of DNS/Hosting issue. This seems to make sense based on the intermitant nature of the issue.

2. One issue I big become aware of was ow WP plug ins can cause this to happen, and I'd added the 'all in one seo' plug in a couple of days before. I removed this via FTP, but I'd tested earlier and not had issues.

Thanks again for all the help

Hugh
