Beginner Work flow advice please

Looking for advice on using my first external drive. I am not a pro, most of my photos is family stuff... So far.

I have just bought a 2 Tb seagate one touch external drive so I can move my current few gigs of photos and some other stuff off my. C: drive. I also have a Ondrive account.
My Elements 2022 is on my C: drive which I do my editing from but catalogue file & backup is saved on external drive.
Would it make sense to point my Onedrive to sync with external drive and photos & other stuff, and just manually upload other stuff from my c: drive to Onedrive when I need to.
Unfortunately it seems Onedrive cannot connect to two devices at the same time.

silly question, do you own an Amazon Prime account?

if you do sort out the amazon photos part to your computer, it's free, and you can tell it where you want to back up from automatically, unlimited storage from the app on the computer and our phone.

You can also invite 4 or 5 family members to have their own unlimited storage accounts as well
