Would a Canon EOS lens from a 35mm camera work on EOS DSLR?

And by work I mean autofocus....

I think it should .... Right? :thinking:

I thought old 35mm film lenses on Canon were FD mount needing an adaptor and losing the AF?

FD, pre-EOS, yes. But she specifically mentioned EOS lenses. And the FD lens was a purely manual focus mount, so there was no AF to lose.
 
And only Canon EOS lenses are sure to work, older third party ef lenses may thow up errors
 
28-80mm kit lens from Canon EOS 300 works brilliantly with my 5D2, although not sure why I'd use that instead of my 24-105 L.

On the other end of scale, the 24-105 L works brilliantly with Canon EOS 300 film camera.

In fact ALL my Canon lenses work with ALL my Canon film/digital cameras as originally intended, including IS.

The good old glass would constitute something like 70-200mm f/2.8 L USM, 85mm f/1.8 or 50mm f/1.4. Yep, they are nearly 20 years old or even older

As has been said they'll work but you have to remember that with an APS-C camera there's the "crop" factor of x1.6. I just didn't understand what was going on when I fitted a lens to my first (APS-C) DSLR :thinking: :D
