Wrist strap that doesn't have quick release.

I'm trying to find a wrist strap for my GF1 that doesn't have a quick release. I never trust those buckle things after losing my shoulder bag at the airport once when they became detached. Luckily hubby was walking behind and noticed.

It needs to be compact as I find that most of the room in the camera case can be taken up by a big strap. I have an optech pro neck strap for my D80 which is very bulky and the QR doesn't inspire me with confidence either.

I've searched the net but so far can't find anything suitable. Any suggestions please.

Use one with a QR clip but tie the clip so it can't come undone (or, if it does, it doesn't just pull apart), or take the QR bit off and sew the free ends together.

I don't trust those QR's on camera straps either, but I just put a small zip-tie through them. Keeps it safe and sound, and I bought a plastic tub of about 500 of 'em from a pound-shop, so I just keep half a dozen in the camera bag, in case of needing replacement.

Just ordered the Optech cam strap QD with Quick release and thank you for your sensible comments. Why didn't I think of that.:bang:

And you do trust zip ties that cost 0.2p each and that's the price after everyone has made a profit

How about Araldite them together, just use the proper stuff not Poundland super duper poxy glue

I've used an Optech strap for years now, with a 5d + 100-400 attached. Never worried about the QR coming apart!!
Also have the Optech wrist strap, but its only used when the full length one would get in the way.

I'm sure I'm worrying needlesly, but I will feel better if I secure the quicklocks with something. Now I'm trying to think of something which will hold them together, but that I can take off if I want to remove the strap, and then clip back on when I put the strap back on.

I'm not being facetious, but couldn't you just have bought the version without the QR

According to Wilkinsons
It is also available without the QD quick release function.
