Your personal style

I thought I'd create a thread that would stir up a bit of thought in peoples minds when it comes to photography and their own personal style that they have developed. I hope this is the right place to put it.

So, personal style could include ways that you manipulate general rules of photography or how you break them effectively to create a unique style. How you manipulate light in your photography could be another example.

Anyway, I want people to post one or two images, that best describe or show their personal style in the way they approach their photography. They don't have to be the best images. I think it'd be interesting to see how this pans out because, for me at least, viewing peoples posts, discussions and images, I've started to associate certain types of photos to certain people.

This thread could be like a faces to names thread, if that makes sense.

I'll start this off. This could be great, or it could be a disaster.

One of the things that is evident from my photostream on flickr at least is that I've never used flash, because it's my weakest point and something I really should fix. Because of that I tend to use a lot of what is available to me. My composition isn't the best either but tends to lead to surprising new perspectives in my images. I'm also quite keen on using reflections in my photos and that's become more evident in my more recent photography.

I look forward to seeing images that represent your own photographic style, and your interpretations of it :)

I am still finsing my style. However i still shoot alot of differnty things - candid, portrait, landscape etc... so its hard to have one style to fit all of those.

That's a good point. I guess you could post images for your style for each of those areas of photography. But yeah, I think a lot of people are continually developing their styles as they progress with their photography.

Hi KayJay
Love the ‘photo and the thread.
It’s odd but when my friends and I take ‘photos at the same place and time one can tell who took which just from the “style”.

Here are some of my ‘photos, this one from three years ago

Can you see a style in these?

Truth be told while I’m interested in photography I don’t take many pictures so my “style” does not develop nor sadly any potential talent, if there is any it remains resolutely hidden!
