You get some odd people visiting your photo sharing sites these days with odd names like ph (Unregistered) just had this plonker leave this message on a photo of mine at Zenfolio. "your print prices are ridiculous and devalue everyone's PHOTOGRAPHY"
It would be nice if these prices were set by me and I was getting paid these prices. However, these prices are set by Zenfolio or photobox who I think had something going with them, I don't know if they still do.

However PH and I suspect you are somewhere on TP, please note I HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH SETTING PRICES, nor do I receive any monies.

Well you could set prices. I presume the person is annoyed because you're selling your prints too cheaply?

You have control over prices you know, you don't have to just use the default print price. (I have a Zenfolio site too.) You make your own price lists, deciding what products to offer (you can offer either Photobox or One Vision prints) and apply them to your albums, building in whatever profit margin you feel is appropriate.

Of course if you don't want any profit at all, you can of course offer prints at cost, which I presume is what you are doing? Its entirely your choice.

I've noticed lately many photographers complaining about photos being shared or cheap....now if they got into photography to make money maybe they should just stay in the studio or become a photo journalist....most photos are a creative reflection of the photographers idea. The town I live in in the USA "professional photographers" are a dime a dozen and they scrape by and I find a lot of them sub standard but I'm in it for the art and creativity and even if I post to Flickr deviantART or others I still own the rights if someone wants to use it fine if a magazine or such wants to use it then maybe I'll charge .... I think a lot of people forget why they picked up a camera in the first place... When it becomes a job mine will be in the attic

My sub doesn't include setting prices, I'm on the 50 quid per year sub, I'm not interested paying £100 + to do that. Even the £50 anual sub is too much. It won't be getting renewed next month, I'm in the process moving it all over to Flick a good bit cheaper there on the Pro version.

 I couldn't have put it better myself, I agree with you 100% . I just enjoy getting out at times, sometime taking a photo, if it came out great if not...tough. As you say the day it becomes a chore and worrying what other people think is the day to pack it all in.

Ah, sorry didn't know that. I didn't consider the basic version as I wanted my own url. If you're not selling much I suppose it might take a good few sales to make the extra £50 back. But you can't sell on Flickr at all so you could just turn the price lists off on your Zenfolio one? Just use it as a photo hosting site, not a selling platform.

I didn't renew my Flickr Pro as I didn't like how little I could change/customise the layout and how people saw the photos, but if you're wanting to share your work with people you don't know, you can do that more easily with Flickr and adding to groups etc. Its a very different tool from Zenfolio.

I look at the other way and think £100 is good value for a website where I can have my own url, easy to use and move stuff about, built in blog - (in fact on the Zenfolio 1/2 price day I upgraded to the full package where I can self fulfill when I do decide on my price lists.)

I'm on zenfolio too..I wanted it primarily as a hosting for my pictures where I could have a bit more security over my work (I have a flickr site too) and I think zenfolio offers better security..but most of all I like how it is so easy to customise my site and make it how I want it!
