zoom lens for canon 550D advice/help/sale

hi im after a lens for wildlife photography.
my biggest problem is that the wildlife is always far away!
im using an efs 55-250mm lens but it isnt zooming far enough.
any help, items for sale, advice?

I use the 100-400L which I love, depends on your budget...

100-400 as a zoom is brilliant. Others will recommend primes but I find the zoom very flexible. I've used mine with a 1.4x and 2x tc with live view to focus manually.
They pop up quite often second hand. I've bought one at £600 and another almost brand new at £850 (yup ive got two)so there are the occasional bargains around.
