    Black and White Digital Camera

It will show the image in the viewfinder as B&W which makes the result easier to visulise and the jpg will be B&W. The raw file will still have all the colour information.

    Black and White Digital Camera

Why not use a decent film camera and B&W film. You could get several films for price of a digital dedicated camera and a lot of entertainment.

People photography and children in the pictures

I have often been the local photographer (ie Free) for village events and had many pictures printed by local media. Earlier this year was asked by the Parish Council chairperson to photograph a tree planting ceremony by the county councillor. There was a small audience which included three or...

    Olympus OM-D E-M5, E-M1, E-M10 - Mk1, Mk2 & Mk3 Owners Thread

I am coming from a camera that claims as its main selling point its simplicity back to Oly and I'm just trying to decide how to set up the custom modes from the bewildering options on my EM1 mk3. I would be interested in how forum members use the modes on their EM cameras (in general terms, not...

Pic(s) you took today - an open thread

Took my venerable Leica M8 out for a walk. Quite a shock to the system, rangefinder focus, no live view and very low spec LCD, aperture priority or full manual only.

    L-Mount Alliance Owners Thread

Just had a quick skim through this forum and it seems to be mainly Panasonic and some superb images. I bought a Leica CL Vario kit on a bit of a whim thinking it would play nicely with my Leica M lenses. Camera is beautifully built and menus simple and logical. Kit lens 18-65 good but not...

    Sony verses Leica

As a long term Leica user (starting with Leica 111A) I can't bring myself to use the M8, now on its third shutter at 16000 actuations, or to sell it so it just sits on the shelf and I happily use the vastly superior Sony cameras. Leica may come in handy if ever I need to defend myself with a...

    Meteors pre Perseid Shower

I was gearing up for the Perseid peak and the 10th August was a perfect night, clear and warm so I set up a trial taking successive 30 sec exposures at f2.8 ISO 2500. Site was only my garden but it is in the countryside and fairly dark. I got a few meteor trails and one which I suspect is a...

    New emerger fom pond

Just noticed this on another image. Different insect but same species I think. Different wasp too.

    New emerger fom pond

Here is the fly a minute earlier than the previous picture when it first appeared. It is a heavy crop because the 400mm lens doesn't close focus but the wasp gives scale. I think you are right about the hover fly. I didn't know that some had an aquatic lavae stage. Thanks.

    New emerger fom pond

I was sitting by the pond trying to get dragonflies in flight pics and saw this emerge from the pond. Any ID folks? Sony A7M2 70-400 G at 400mm about 2m away so quite heavily cropped.

Other Macro Show us your macro rig

I have adapted the mount on my USB microscope to be used on the wemacro rail purchased recently. However the microscope required a mouse click on a software button to take a picture so could not be operated directly from the wemacro control box. So, in true Cap'n Bodge-it fashion I knocked up a...
