Negative space CAN look great, Ross Harvey uses it a lot with great effect, shots that are 'technically' not composed properly that are stunning.
I use it when it suits (take a look at my Beacon Fell image in the portrait section) but I think in the shots above there isn't enough space to imply...
I'm quite excited, I have the boss (wife) at about 80% convinced, just need to convince her the other 70% as my wife needs 150% in these situations! :D:woot:
Honest feedback!:
#1 Looks a bit forced - a little like she's squinting, the bouquet on the dress is a little old hat for my taste
#2 Shot works great as far as emotion and composition but for me the PP lets it down. Really not a fan of low contrast shots, some people like them as they are...
My 2 pennies:
#1 Well framed, nice emotion on the bride's face but the large window behind have fooled your camera's exposure, could have done with maybe a stop more light. Possible to recover if you were shooting at a low ISO and have a decent camera.
#2 Nice shot, foreground interest, nice...
Do you pose them or are they standing how they would normally. Love these, may be tempted to do something like this myself, think it would be fun and great publicity
The original has more space at the bottom so could revert back to that to print. I wanted as little foreground as possible to emphasise the height of the trees and negative space above them.
None, we're used to turning up somewhere and finding things as we go. I love a good silhouette shot...
