Both good attempts Eddy. I, too, am trying my hand at flower/plant photos both in and outdoors but find getting the focus spot on is not that easy, especially outdoors when there is a breeze! IMHO the colours are good and I like the background which is nicely out of focus.

Hi John, Thanks for the reply. I used the wider aperture to get a shallow dof but I accept what you suggest and will have another go when the rain stops assuming it hasn't ruined the flowers!

I took this one of a flower in our garden (don't know what it is!) with my 50mm f1.8 prime set at f2, 1/3200 and ISO 100. I focussed manually but accept it is not perfect (but then, neither is my eyesight these days!) so maybe a tripod should have been used. Comments welcomed. flower by RegG...
