I was stating the Nikon 70-300 VR for his indoor shoots which will need much slower shutter speeds and is better than his current lens, as he can not afford 2.8 glass
The Sigma 70-200 2.8 is the best value lens if 200mm is enough for him.
Hi smiff3100, you mentioned 200mm was not zoomed in enough for you, so my suggestion to you is the Nikon AF-S 70-300 VR which you could pick up S/H for reasonable price.

No it was 200mm lens at 2.8 1/250 iso 800, I was picking a mate up at his house and in the garden were a few pheasants and saw the black one so rushed to get photo before they ran off, totally unprepared and panicked a bit. :gag: Could have gone up to 1600 iso I suppose.
Thanks, it was a horrible day so was shooting at 2.8 and high iso hand held and ended up with focus on feathers but liked the detail in the feathers, shame about the head but would have required 5.6 to get all the bird in focus head on but shutter speed would have been too slow for hand held.
Took boat trip out to Inchcolm Island off Edinburgh coast today and caught these guys chilling out on a bouy and some rocks, too late in the year for the puffins :'(
