The Photography Show 2015

Most likely will go again... was some cheap bargains (stuff they don't have on website) on a Bessell stall that i can't find online.

Will have to get the wife to hide my CC though.... oh wait that would be a terrible idea  :$

Wont take my camera as wasn't really much to shoot their last year. Unless I'm going to exchange. ;)

Pity it's so expensive to attend. Fooling the organisers into a free ticket isn't as easy now

;)

I went last year under the old arrangements, paying on the door. At £18 on the door for 2015, plus travel costs of about £30, it really would need some bargain prices just to break even for what I'm likely to spend. Advance tickets are a little cheaper but a risk if unable to attend for any reason. I'll decide nearer the time.

I will go... Hope to see a few presentations this time; didn't get that organised last year. Just like to go and have a wander... Sometimes with a list of things I want to check out. GAS alert!

ticket price?

I thought it was free, it was free last year! Has that changed?

yes its free for pros and only 20 miles away ..its all junk unless you want to buy but the wife likes a day out

Wife is a photographer ..she is looking for ideas ..I woukd not bother but she likes to go ( on a monday when its a bit quieter)

My Mrs likes to go too. Other than shooting at weddings it's about the only involvement she has. :(

Is it any better than the last incarnation? Many old blokes carrying holstered cameras and doing a spray and pray at any model in sight?

I will go again been for the last ten or so years , the only bad thing now is if you prebook you have to nominate which day you attend when it was focus it didn't matter.

I went this year because I was looking for specific gear and I wanted to meet the people for the companies kit I was buying into. That was a very worthwhile exercise.

Overall though, I found the show was far too crowded I couldn't always get to speak to the right people on the stands. There was one demonstration I wanted to see, it was 7-8 people deep in front of the demo area.

I'm a bit surprised they can get away with charging customers to go to shops to buy gear. I got in for free, but I definitely wouldn't pay for it.

I agree about the bit about paying! As a non professional, I don't mind too much as I love the day out and my partner likes it too. I guess if you are putting in a big event, you need to make a profit so... We'll be going. I might go twice, once with at the weekend and once without my partner on either Monday or Tuesday, depending on what bookable talks are on this year. Anybody else going from here? Which day?

I'm sure that they make this selling floor space to exhibitors in attendance . I could understand a small fee for entry say £5 to cover insurance costs ,but any more isn't so good .

Is there a day people think might be quieter? LAst year, we went on Saturday and it turned out to be the quietest and Monday the busiest. When are people going?

Yup, it was the weirdest thing - normally expect the weekends to be the busiest, when most people have the time off from their full time jobs, Monday / Tuesday much quieter with the professionals. I think everyone from the weekend crowd had the same idea and turned up on Monday! Even at the end of the day it was hard to clear the stands!

If any of you lot stop by the Manfro/Lasto stand, make sure you say 'hello' eh?

We always call there... You have those lovely calendars if we get there early on..

Went this year and loved it, I took my 14 year old for an educational day out (well that's what I told his school) he was happy playing with a D4 and an f4 600mm!! I honestly went just to listen to Joe McNally but was so impressed with the other workshops that were on the various stages.

Ok there are big crowds and you have to be prepared to plan your day to catch what you want to see. Plenty of bargains from Camera World and Callumet.

I'm definitely going next year and plan to make it at least a 2 day visit.

No.

I went to the last show, thanks to the kind generosity of Matty D who had to cancel and kindly gave me his tickets, both for entry and to see Michael Freeman. MF was good to listen to, and it was enjoyable to wander round trying stuff. At the same time, I'm not sure I'd go again for the real cost of entry - I can't afford new stuff and I'm just not that much into 'gear' these days (good job too!). Having said that, I have kept thinking back to gear I saw and software I tried, so maybe it was more influential than I thought.

Just a heads up that registration is now open to whoever is interested.

Non-pro tickets are available from 3 December.

Yep it was strange. Monday had 50% more visitors than Saturday. We have made all the aisles wider and added a 500 seat food village too so crowding shouldn't be such an issue. The show is set to be about 25% bigger too with the likes of Leica, Sony, BlackMagic and Pentax exhibiting this year.

We also invest a significant amount in all the stages, the garden and the big names that appear. We are a commercial organisation so aim to make a profit but the production as venue costs would make your eyes water! We are well priced in comparison to other shows such as the gadget show etc Hopefully you will give it a go.
