Yes
Just wondering if anyone has spotted any Black Friday deals which are actually worth it

I was hoping for a decent deal on a Olympus OMD EM5 MKii but nothing doing better off buying a lightly used one.

Just bought Fuji XF 10-24mm with double cashback. £680 after cashback, 12 months interest free credit too. Happy with that.

Bah :(:( Could have saved a bit more if I’d checked camera pricebusters ....Oh well I was happy before I checked so win some lose some. Grey import would have cost me £650 and I did get interest free credit. Of course I’m not rationalising or anything

"I regret I am going to have to refund you on the lens you purchased on our website as we have had a technical issue resulting in price errors". *******

It's been a SHOCKING Black Friday for photographers imo.

Been regularly monitoring Amazon, Camerapricebusters etc.

Bought cheap Adobe annual sub and a memory card. That's it.

Not sure about that.... a6000 and kit lens 369, a7 kit 619, rx100iv 475. Fuji double cashbacks.

A6000/A7 are two generations old, I think? I might have bitten on a mega-cheap A6300.

RX100IV reasonable but has been discounted recently.

Fuji discounts would be more desirable if prices hadn't gone up recently.

Was after a DJI Spark Fly More. Was cheaper two weeks ago. :-(

A6300 is 550 body only, that is cheap. Cheaper than grey.

Yeah, you're right - that's a decent discount (with cashback).

Got a half price yearly pro subscription to zenfolio, which is handy as I was just about to purchase it anyway at full cost, as my free trial runs out tomorrow :D

Its been pretty good for me, 15% off Zeiss Loxia lenses taking a 35mm down to the price of a used one...

I've done OK so far - 30% off circular filters at Wex yest so £50 off a Lee Landscape Polariser and 15% off Lee at Wex today so a Little Stopper for £80 today

I've seen a couple of TV programmes over the last two weeks that reckoned quite a few things in the UK were cheaper in the weeks after Black Friday last year. To be honest I think the whole Black Friday thing has died a bit of a death in the UK; there was a report on Look Northwest (our regional BBC news programme) this evening showing John Lewis opening the shutters to their Trafford Centre store first thing this morning, with staff standing to attention on either side of the entrance isle in the background as the shutters rose... and 1, yes, ONE customer waiting there outside to be let in! I don't know if anyone else saw that but I felt a bit embarrassed for the staff.

In the USA it's a national holiday where people can go round the shops or take their time online to find and snap up the bargains, rather like the start of the January sales used to be in the UK years ago. In the UK it's just another cold November Friday at work and people are probably more concerned with getting their work done and going home for the weekend, plus they've got Christmas looming and all the expense that brings. Besides... I think it's actually rather nice to see a bit of American commercialisation falling flat on its face in the UK for once!

Not sure it’s an amazing deal but bagged a ‘Good’ condition D7200 body from Amazon Warehouse for £527. Looks pretty new to me despite a slightly tatty box.

Its not the same physical shop frenzy it was a year or two ago, but its massive online, shocking amounts of money being spent, so I don't think we can say that its "American commercialisation falling on its face" its just moved online from the shops.

Have a look online and see if any of those amazing deals are still available now at this time of night, and I think you might be surprised as to how many of them might be still up for grabs this far into Black Friday?

Of course they are, its no longer a day but a 4 day event now

Of course, there are four Fridays in the week, I keep forgetting.

Well that whole thing is a few days now, Black Friday to Cyber Monday, its no longer restricted to being just a day, something that's shown by the sheer fact that many of the deals are for a number of days, not just one, for example WEX (and many others) offering discount codes that are valid well into next week.
I don't need anyone rolling their eyes when I'm simply stating a fact, grow up.

I didn't look. I can't think of anything that I actually need/want, and that's remotely affordable!

Fuji X-Pro2 at Jessops and probably other camera retailers with £380 off. Currently makes it after discount £1009 from Jessops also comes with free leather case.

They will probably make it Black Friday month next year, allowing themselves more time to shift the stagnant stock?

Similar to Christmas that starts in November

It wouldn't surprise me to be honest! I remember the days the sales didn't start until Boxing Day, thats long gone!

Amongst the plethora of emails from every shop imaginable there was one from Crisis.
We usually give to reserve a place for a homeless person at their Christmas shelter

Only money we spent on Black Friday was our donation, better than any bargain

Not sure if Black Fri was a success or not, but nearly all of Amazons deals are not available for next day delivery, even with prime, with many of them quoting Tues delivery at the earliest.

I remember the days when the sales didn't start until January and there were some really heavily discounted bargains to be had, hence people queueing for a day or so beforehand with sleeping bags on the pavements outside some of the department stores. (unfortunately for me, I'm a bit more grown-up than you thought!) Then they started with the Boxing Day sales thing, then it was pre-Christmas sales, then it was November sales... and now they seem to be trying to re-brand the November sales as 'Black Friday' which, as you point out, seems to last 4 days in some places.

After looking what's on offer and the price of it, did you spot many amazing bargains? I saw one or two that made me smile, including full RRPs being quoted as a 'baseline' price for lenses, with the 'BF deal' price being the sort of price I would expect to pay for them pretty much all year round in the UK if I shopped around, and the supposed saving they were quoting being the amount between the full RRP and the 'usual-ish' selling price!

Add the confusion of some manufacturer's cashback offers to the mix, and unless you've been watching the prices over the last few months, then I don't think it's particularly easy to tell if it's a bargain or not. I did a check on one lens at random and according to Camera Pricebuster, the cheapest price for it during the last 12 months was on the 5th of December last year. So I think I'll hang on to my money for a bit longer yet and see who blinks first... not that I really want anything at the moment, but if I see a new Mk2 Canon 100-400 IS L drop to around the £1200 mark then I might bite on that.

I found Amazon's deliveries were running a day late round here a couple of weeks ago, so it doesn't surprise me if they're saying that now. It'll be interesting to see what happens if we get that snowy lead up to Christmas that some of the newspapers were talking about. There might be a few gaps under the Christmas tree in some households this year!

I know, I've snagged one yesterday (from a different retailer), not many about (in stock) at that price

Arguably the XF16-55 F2.8 is a better deal as has £290 cashback!!
Currys still have them, and that price is pretty amazing, cheaper than some of the grey importers

I treated myself to a new rotalux Softboxe as it had £30 off. But then WEX haven't got stock, but not too worried.

Wonder which shop or company can keep Black Friday going the longest, I wonder could we have Good Black Friday?

I've just bagged a canon 16-35 f4 from Castle Cameras for £764.10. That's 10% off their already discounted price of £849. Plus there will be the £85 cashback.

It's worth having a look at their site if you're looking for a lens. But the offers end today (allegedly).
