This thread may seem bizarre to the uninitiated but keep with me for a moment...... We must thank David Williams (Willid1) for giving me this strapline for a post.
I am a new member and want to sell some kit (such as my x4-7x a.y Nikkor) but I need to build up some points and posts first before I can post it. So I asked anyone who read my first post to give me a subject to post about...hence todays subject is Benfleet and its photogenic locations.
Its true, Benfleet in Essex is a wonderfull suburban photographic wonderland. Set 35mins on the train from Fenchurch St. Fortunately anyone coming to Benfleet and our studio can benefit from one of THE best rail operatos in the country and it can bring you to shoot our superb Benfleet Creek where the vikings are buried after a little fallout that they had with the Saxons. This is often replayed by the Spurs and West Ham fans that seem to inhabit most of Canvey nearby.
But - back to the topic...are there any non-photogenic places to shoot in Benfleet? Yes the one that stands out is the sewage works about half a mile towards Pitsea. It may be architecturally significant with its massive semi sunken poo scraping arms but when you dip your hands in it, it really stains like fixer used to do in the darkroom (another link to photography!)
I did have a recent retro bash at 35mm and 120mm film recently but didnt rebuild my darkroom - oh the ease of digital
