I've been having a lot of fun playing with video on my D300S. It's much more fiddly than a standalone video camera, but you can get some amazing results.

But what are you guys using for a HD camera for those times when a DSLR is not suitable?

If there is a sticky somewhere that I've missed, please let me know!

In the absence of a DSLR that records HD video, I'm using a Sony HX9V and I'm very impressed by the results. Makes a handy grab camera for video and stills. Put a grip handle on the bottom and attach an LCDVF to the screen and it's very easy to use.

+1 Used the HX7v and that had amazing video, this is even better.

I also give the hx9v a thumbs up ,
great quality video 50fps at 1080p ,
and IS works really well too.

Thanks - looks like a decent option and I think my friend has one, so I'll see if I can borrow it.

You may be surprised just how much you can do with a gopro hero 2
