Hello All, beginner question here - I understand simply using an IR filter potentially increases stops to between 2 to 4. Has anyone used 5DMKii for IR with just filters, what are the results like?

If a converted SLR is indeed the best way to get IR photos, can someone recommend a reasonably priced Canon kit please that I can have converted? My current body cost me a kidney and I am loathed to lose my only other.

Keen to experiment with IR sounds fun - mainly landscapes and urban shots :)

Thanks.

I've got a 40D that I bought already converted. The conversion was done by Protech in Uckfield E.Sussex. http://www.protechrepairs.co.uk/

Some of my shots are in the IR thread on here http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/threads/ok-then-lets-see-your-infrared-images-please.493937/

and there's a couple here.

The guy who started the thread seems to be a bit of a whizz on this, so have a word with him.

Thanks, mickledore this is a great starting point. Going through the thread, lots of useful info.
