Jim, are you far from Rowlands Gill? They have regular kingfishers which you can see and photograph from the hide.

It's the Far Pastures Hide you want. If you call up Derwent Water and they should be able to help you and let you book the hide.

Yes I'ts a good place, saw a Kingfisher yesterday briefly,I saw the otter too even more briefly, here's a King I got last week at Far Pasture,

The BTO's BirdTrack site can be useful for figuring out where to find stuff. Search for the desired species then zoom in close enough to get individual records.

For Far Pasture call at Thornley Woodlands Centre. You can get a key to the hide from there. Cost a fiver when I got mine about 3 years ago.

There were 3 kingfishers showing on Saturday.
