One dark night in Spain. I got in trouble with my wife over this one told her I was out photographing birds in the dark she wouldn't have it till she saw the snaps

I remember going to see one that turned up in Lincolnshire back in 2006 / 2007
This one turned out to be a subspecies and in fact a Black-eared Kite.

Great Grey Owl Finland. Funny it was my last day there and I was trudging through the snow to go and do a few landscape trees and river shots. I had the canon 1d mkiv and 300mm f2.8 in my hand I just stopped for a drink and breather and he came from between the trees. He/she was so quiet it was unreal.

In Sweden they call them grey headed woodpeckers.
Yep it's a mouse I don't know how much you know about the Shrikes we call them a butcher bird because they hang there prey on thorns like a fridge in a butchers shop. He heard the camera and looked towards me. They are a tough little bird and will give bigger birds a really hard time if they get on their patch

It seems they are a subspecies of the ones we have in the UK. I will do more research on this, I love a school day.

Not meant to be Dale. I only realised when I was looking them up. According to her in doors I still have a lot to learn.
I have only ever seen it twice and I'm a Shrike aficionado I just love these little birds.
Male and female Red-backed Shrike.
