Nikon 300mm ED f5.6

What is the exact model?

ok I had a chap on the Nikon cafe just message to say that the 600mm f5.6 cannot be used on the D7100 ... anybody heard of this !!!
Yeah, that was "rubbish"! :D

But the other guy hit the nail on the head!

You've entered max. f-number in camera settings, while you should have entered max. opening! (y)

If I wasn't such a noob... :wacky:

oh what the hell have I been writing !!!!! old age MUST be setting in ... it's the Nikon 600mm F5.6 ED ....

sorry :wacky:

First: have a read from page 149 of your manual "Non-CPU Lenses" and see if that helps.

Second: did you get your lens from RamCo?

...Found this on the Nikon USA site....

The following accessories and non-CPU lenses CAN NOT be used with the D7100:
• Lenses that require the AU-1 focusing unit (400mm f/4.5, 600mm f/5.6, 800mm f/8, 1200mm f/11)
But, fortunately, yours is not that version; see link.

Yours is the Nikkor 600mm f/5.6 IF-ED:
  • link1 at Photography in Malaysia, that includes this pdf diagram
  • link2 at Nikon

And, I take that you have done this:

Yay all sorted ... finally got the time to have a quick play .. yep had to have the aperture set to 5.6 along with the manual lens input at 5.6 as well ... camera set in manual focus mode with shutter priority and there is light at the end of the tunnel :D
Now if it stopped raining I could go and take some snaps :bang:
