A quick note on the Leica Q3. I got mine on launch day (from Red Dot after getting on the list many months prior). I’ve been using it extensively for a book project I’m doing.

It is a stunningly good camera. For the people pictures I’m doing it is just superb. I am usually pairing it with off-camera flash to capture on-site documentary type images, always at night (it’s a night time project). I also use it for quite a few night landscapes as well.

I also have a Sony A7III and 16-35 2.8, but the Q3 gets picked up pretty much every time unless I need wider than 28mm.

What stands out is the amazing lens (no surprise), huge resolution sensor enabling real-world croppability, and the simple and tactile operation. The high speed flash sync comes in handy as well. Small and light, I can use it without thinking and the results it churns out are brilliant especially at f/1.7. For documentary-style photography it’s just unbeatable.

I’ve got some pics running on my project thread if you’d like to see.

Definitely, but I only have the 100mm bellows and 135mm leitzs... so a lot less. But I definitely will keep an eye in here

I see. The A7R5 being high res, would need modern (and dear) M mount lenses. But there are many excellent E mount lenses, not as compact as M mounts, however.

For city trips, I like the ZEISS Loxia 2,8/21 very much. (And I have 25mm, 28mm, 35mm, 55mm and 70-200 E mounts.)

You will be happy with the SONY pics. Perhaps not so much with the handling and feel ... ---

In the lower bottom right corner of the second pic there are faint circular lines. I do not know how the equivalent Leica lens would have performed ... ---

Seems I can not use the 135mm, the goggles are blocked by the handle...

Hi, perhaps you find help here :

Good luck ! :)

Nice bokeh, I think. I bought this lens years ago for €700 used.

Just received my Q3 and still getting used to it after the M240 .... all in all I'm liking it

Also tried the Leica App for the first time with these images below using the jpegs and the high contrast B&W
