Hello all, I've just bought a new Scandisc SD card (16G extreme) and was pondering 'does the quality of the card have any effect on the quality of the images on it'. Or are different manufacturers pretty much like for like.
I understand about the read and write speeds so not really asking about that.

Nope the card either works or it doesn't, its all down to reliability and speed.

avoid buying a Fake one and buy a respected name-brand card

Avoid anything branded as Scandisc. SanDisk branded stuff should be OK if bought from a proper retailer but E-Bay is full of fakes.

Has nothing to do with image quality.
But when the card fails then you will loose whatever photos taken with that card.
Go for the genuine and with respectable manufacturer.
As others said there are so many fake ones at the market these days.

The above comments as to picture quality are utterly correct...FujFilm some years ago had a very dishonest ad. claiming that using their cards you would still have Fuji Film quality shots.

What a shame it doesn't work like that. I could save a Word document on a decent memory card and the writing would improve.
