Self timer options

Is there anyway to extend the self timer on my camera. I have a canon 7d mkii, which has a 2 & 10 sec option as standard. It would be great to have a few more seconds, to allow better scenic background.

Your camera might have a built in intervalometer which can be set to take a shot every so often. You could use this function as an extended self timer. If your camera doesn't have this function, you can get plug in cable releases that do have it. Failing that, a remote release (radio type) could be used to set the self timer from a distance.
