hello
A friend of ours is doing a skydive in September, and as a relative newbie i wanted to take some photos of the jump.
Does anyone have any tips for taking photos from the ground as he jumps.
I will be using a Nikon D5000 with a Tamrom 70-300 f4-5.6 lens.
Any help would be appreciated.

Peter

As has already been mentioned, they'll likely be too high up for you to get any photos until they're close to landing. You could practice trying to photograph birds in flight so you have some practice in a similar technique to the one you'll use as they descend. I don't know if you've given any consideration to hiring a longer/faster lens for the week the jump is taking place, but it could be worth considering.

thanks for the replies guys
just going to go and see what happens
will hopefully post some pics

You could always jump after him and take the photos on the way down
