Spoilt by shadow/processing?

Had a go at pointing the camera and off camera flash at my daughter this morning - was pleased with the 1st one but am distracted by the shadow...spoilt? Also 2nd is quite heavily processed, not sure if I have gone OTT. Comments welcome.

I see what your saying but with some careful dodging in photoshop you could eliminate the shadow, a time consuming task but would be worth it to blend the shadow away.

The other thing to do is use a reflector and go back and shoot again so the reflector fills in the shadow detail.

Or make the image a high key image, this could get rid of the shadow too?

kind of like so

a little overdone on a small file but can see where i am coming from, adjusted levels and dodged some shadow away.
