The 2014 Season F1 Thread

Some big backlash at McLaren about the drivers, especially their treatment of Button. Rumour from the paddock is that Boullier doesn't like him, which is strange for a results driven business.

Pitflaps of course has it's own take: http://www.pitflaps.co.uk/2014/11/dennis-determined-a******e-horner/

Button has scored almost twice as many points for the team this season.

Red bull gives you springs

Quite a start by Hamilton, it looked like he had a totally different car to Rosberg.

Rosberg has his wish now, the mercs split by a Williams! Just not the way he hoped :)

So Hamilton has done it.

Congrats to the winner and WDC. Shame it was decided in quite that manner but better that way than it being down to a (basically) marketing decision by the commercial rights holder. Fabulous day for the 2nd and 3rd place drivers too.
Big up for the runner up in the WDC for running to the end despite seeing his chances disappear with his KERS (or whatever it's called now!)

Got to give Nico respect for that and for going to the drivers room to congratulate Lewis.

He had to do something like that, after all as we were reminded by Dieter Zetsche they were representing the Mercedes brand so he would have to appear to swallow some humble pie for the cameras.
All said and done the cheater got what he deserved.......nothing.

Fair pleased for Lewis as I had thought he would have been the one in the ailing car.

Proved wrong - I thought Nico had it in the bag for many reasons - But no Lewis has done it well done to him

As always I enjoyed watching this weekend's GP2 races. Will Buxton commentated with Luca Filippi. Both of them have been intimately involved with the whole ten years of GP2 and Buxton asked multiple race winner Filippi who was the best driver he'd raced against? Nico was the immediate reply, he didn't only come in as a rookie and win but he developed and turned round his unfancied team, ART. His set up work has won a couple of championships for other drivers

If anyone is interested as to what the flexable wing on the bulls was about
It was interesting to hear Christian explaining how they wernt the only ones cheating

Even your link says Horner's "explaining" wasn't the truth.

One example from your link:

Contrary to Horner's rebuttal (again) the test was not only conducted on the Red Bull cars but other competitors too, but the force needed to move the RB10's flap was enough to convince the stewards that this was a blatant attempt to mechanically manipulate the flap, rather than the aerodynamic load deformation seen with other teams. -

Intriguing that Red Bull had some less flexible wings with them - just in case?

Horner was having a dig at mclaren who ran test wing looking very much like red bulls, a dig at the old red bull aero chief who joined mclare, but mclaren used it on magnussen scar in practice, they both used the old wing for qualifying and racing

:
Which is the intresting part
I mean when have red bull ever stepped outside the rules before or told untruths :naughty:

I think it might be Williams to be honest as they are using areolasticity but it seems to escape the test for deflection, where as a stick and a shove on the red bull didnt
Expect either tighter scrutineering tests next year or a rule change

Considering the Red Bull front wing was nearly folding in half a year or two ago and still passing all the tests I wonder why this one failed ?

The wings are tested for flexing but not the turning flaps and it was these that they "sprung" loaded unlike williams that use the power of the air to turn them
The scrutineers can instigate further tests if they think the regs have been streched In this case they pushed with a stick the vanes and they moved , so article 3.15 was breeched

Well deserved Lewis!

Looking forward to next year already. I hope the rest of the field are able to get a little bit closer to Mercedes.

I Agree. Well done Lewis.

Championship may have finished by the cars / drivers are still working hard out here. :)
