I found what I think is a Thornback Ray washed up on Aberdeen Beach just as the tide was retreating.
It has the most amazing eye and although covered in sand there were thorn-like spikes along its back.
I found an old roof tile nearby so I used it to scoop up the fish and returned it to the sea but I then lost it as a wave came in.
Hope it made it back to sea safely.
