Infected by a parasitic wasp this ladybug will guard the wasps egg sac until they hatch. Only around 25% will survive the enforced guard duty. Shot with a Raynox DCR-250 on a Sigma 150mm macro lens with natural light, Stack of around 20 layers.
Many thanks all! @Gav. I have seen fugus that gets flies and wasps parasitizing caterpillars but this was a first for me too. When I first saw it I suspected what it was but had to do some googling to confirm.
