I've never tried macro photography at all but I need to take some photos of some very small and detailed mechanical work.
I have a D750 body and am looking for starter lens recommendations. I don't want to spend much just looking for something with decent results for modest outlay.

At the moment I can't justify the cost of a top end Nikon flash unit so wondering if I'm better going for a cheaper Nikon (something like an SB300) or going for a non-Nikon branded item - perhaps a Neewer VK750 from Amazon - any views?
Are there any Nikon DSLRs that will fit? The lens is actually 50mm f1.2. There seem to be some adapters for sale that do say they are compatible. Do have an OM4 still but the idea of using film isn't appealing.
Happy to do bit of work - looks like the ring you need isn't an adapter exactly more a part to replace but looks easy enough. Keen to keep the lens as it's a nice bit of kit
This might be a very daft question but does anybody know if there is a way to fit an old 50mm f1.4 lens for an OM4 to a Nikon DSLR? It's manual focus which makes me slightly hopeful.

Thanks for the reply, very helpful indeed. The person I'm buying for I think will value versatility and ease of use over all else at least from initially. Like the reviews of the Tamron and good to hear someone else has used it as I've no experience.
