I think it's a fantastic portrait - once I opened it up on Flickr and saw it at a good size - what you posted was far too big for my 1080p Monitor (excuse to upgrade).
I don't think it's overdone at all and really makes me think of his age, history and perhaps struggle.
Think they are a brilliant set of images with 4 being my personal favourite. The use of Mono in the original set really sets them apart from the later images, I'd be interested to see them converted also!
Good job!
Hopefully we can get back out with him in the coming weeks and get some more images.
I do think I am trying to be too specific with my focus using a flexible spot, maybe a move to an area AF would help with him movement.

#2 - ok I think, close to the eyes

Hi All,
Just a few captures from my friends wedding, Friday past. Have a lot more but have left them to my Facebook for my friends to share and use as they wish. I decided to just take along my d5100 with the 35mm 1.8 and simply used my feet for zoom!

Meant to go take some pictures of the guys last week and unfortunately I am missing their set in the world famous King Tuts in Glasgow this Friday
I will give it a try.
I should have quite a lot of opportunities to shoot this band over the coming year.
Looking to get my own equipment soon as I am currently using the family Nikon 5100d, kit lens and 35mm
Thanks for the comments :)
The lighting make it very very challenging and I was pretty under prepared. Really wish I had taken a tripod with me to help out
