    Headline news?

Very true. A long while ago, (can't remember who said it but I think was a former newspaper employee), I recall them saying the only thing you should believe in a newspaper is the date at the top of the page.

    Macro shots with 35mm SLR

I fully agree with Carter64's recommendation of using extension tubes. These are basically just hollow tubes which allow the lens to be positioned further away from the camera. The further away the lens is from the camera body, the higher the magnification. The Nikon ones I bought many years...

    Medium format

I can second Steve's recommendation of Peak Imaging for your colour work. I don't shoot colour myself, but I have seen results from here and was very impressed. I still do my own film processing, but I don't have as much time to print them these days, so scanning has been something of an...

    Medium format

If you want to do black & white, I can thoroughly recommend Ilford Labs for your processing. I've had prints made by them in the past, and although probably not the cheapest, the quality is without any doubt superb. I've never been disappointed with them. http://www.ilfordlab.com/ There are...

Colour film for using indoors without flash?

It's been many years indeed since I shot regularly in colour, but back then Hoya used to do FL-D and FL-W filters for using daylight film in fluorescent light. I think they still make them, but I used to use the Fuji HR series of films (back in the 80's) and this was the one I used for these...

    Which Ball Head? Manfrotto

Hi, I can recommend both of these heads - the 490 RC4 which will hold up to 12 kgs, and the 498 RC2 at 8 kgs. I've only ever used the first one when shooting with long lenses, but they are both very sturdy and smooth ball heads...

    Focus on Imaging

I guess it will be catered more for digital users as exhibitors will be showing their latest goodies, but I'm pretty certain Ilford will be present so there will be at least something for the film/darkroom user to look at. :) I'd love to go if I lived in Birmingham.

    Soft Shutter Release

It does offer a slightly larger area in which to rest your finger on when pressing the shutter release, so for some photographers it's more 'comfortable' to use. As to whether it helps reduce camera shake, to be honest I've never found it made any difference when I tried one.

    Pentax MX.....Good, Not so good???

I had an MX for many years - my first SLR. A superb camera, but check that the LED metering display does not flicker, as I understand this was fairly common with the MX after a long period of time. However mechanically, very reliable.

Want to shoot more film, Stick with Current body? Or Buy into new system..

If you're happy with the Zenit, then why not. There are a number of good quality prime lenses available in M42 screw fitting available, and shouldn't cost you too much either. Alternatively, there are some excellent film bodies available from the likes of Olympus, Pentax, Canon and Nikon and...

    Your photography pet hates

Very true, and the Chinese pronounce it as 'Nee-kon'.

    A Very Stupid Question

If I'm not mistaken, I think the OM-1 and OM-2 had the rewind release located on the front of the camera just above the self-timer lever. Generally, they're normally found on the base plate.

    I need help which Nikon

Just re-read your original post. If auto-focus isn't crucial to you, then I would go for the F3 instead as this is better suited for manual focusing than the F4. Alternatively, for a fully mechanical manual-only camera which will operate without batteries (apart from the meter) then I'd...
