Best book for a child on Windows 10?

I'm not sure if there's an updated Windows 10 edition, but 'How to Do Just About Anything on a Computer' is clear and enjoyable. I've bought people copies of this before. Not child specific but fine for an eight year old.

    Rechargeable batteries

It can help to put the 'dead' batteries in an old 'dumb' charger for 30 seconds or so, then switch them to the smart charger. That seems to kickstart many of them.

    Rechargeable batteries

I've tried plenty, and Eneloops have been the most consistent. We have dozens of Eneloops and use them for everything at home, they just work. If on a budget wait until Lidl or Aldi have low self discharge rechargeables on offer.

What shall I do with £31.28?

I like Kyle's crowdfunding idea. I've done this a few of times with modest amounts with arts and music projects; the return (not just the material return) has always been worthwhile.

    Night torch?

FWIW I've never found a dimmed white light (1 lumen or even a light with a 'firefly' mode) any different than a red LED for impairing night vision, and it's more pleasant to use.

I use one of these (can also be held, ciggy style, between the lips): http://flashlight.nitecore.com/product/tube

    Rural Furniture

The texture of the weathered concrete and wood comes over well in b/w (I'm thinking especially of pic 7 +8).

Merci Kodiak! After learning about gradient adjustments I'll go back and tweak the original. This was straightened, cropped and (cough) subtly enhanced on my Kindle...

    Autumn roots

This is from a walk at the weekend along the German-Danish border (I believe I was standing in Germany and this beech tree was in Denmark).

Cat Appreciation Society! - lets see those catz!

This is one of ours. His name is Hein. An old sun lounger and a nice soft tummy cushion are hard to beat!

    Catman saying 'hi'!

It's Catman because of our 4 cats. I'm from the Scottish Borders originally but I've lived in Germany for many years. I photograph with a Canon S90 and occasionally with an ancient Minolta EX 1500. Apart from cats I particularly enjoy all kinds of nature and architecture photography. Nice to...
