    Wedding. With a catch...

I am on the Bucks/Berks border, and there isn't a single registrar in my area that will allow photos during the actual signing "data protection blah blah" but quite a lot of the vicars/priests are fine with it.

    First wedding in November...

I agree with Andrew. Safety first. Do not practice new techniques on a wedding day. Whilst YOU might not like the look of using on camera flash (bounced or not), I can assure you, your 'clients' are far less likely to express disappointment at sharp, correctly exposed but uncreatively lit...

    First B&G selfie

The selfie is becoming a bit of a trend at graduations instead of the traditional handshake. Not sure if that is better or worse for sales of on stage photos, but probably another nail in the photographers coffin!

How many group shots at a wedding?

How many groups? What the client wants...... providing the client allows enough time!! Like many photographers, I prefer not to shoot too many formal groups, but it's not MY wedding album! I contact the client 4 months prior to the wedding offering my recommendation for the 'standard' formal...

You're not allowed to take photos of me!!

Are you serious?? All they have done so far is point out that the OP had mixed up his recycling for the 2nd week in a row.

    Wedding shoot help

25600 iso??? Where were you shooting - in a coal mine???? The only times I may have had to shoot above 3200 iso at f2.8 is a candlelit church at 4pm in December! However, I do use a tripod in dark churches to enable slower shutter speeds than I would risk hand holding.

    a friends covering a wedding

A recipe for disaster if ever there was one! One task will inevitably suffer as a result of the other.

    a friends covering a wedding

AV mode will be fine if the overall scene is similar to the EV on the bride & groom, but if there is a bright window in the background compensation is probably necessary.

Longest time taken for speeches at a wedding?

African weddings and similar cultures can have many, many speakers, often lasting well over and hour.... and beyond. My most recent wedding in this style must have included at least 20 speakers! Some only said a few words, but there were parents, grandparents, the minister etc giving full...

    Finding a Free Model!

Agree 100%. Many tfp shoots are one-sided and very often one party doesn't really get equal benefit. It's a few years since I shot 'models' but I actually preferred to pay an experienced model who not only performed well and quickly to produce great shots, she/he didn't make great demands on...

    Wedding Reception

I set up 2 speedlights, one each side of the room and if I can include something from the disco too it adds to the atmosphere. My 2nd camera can trigger just one of the lights if I want more drama. The beauty of PW's :) Edit: Whoops, I haven't been here for a while and just realised...

Have some Wedding Photographers lost the plot

I was photographing a wedding doing my usual mixture of traditional groups and plenty of informal when a couple started to mutter in my ear "I wish we had you at our daughter's wedding. Their photographer was rubbish". Intrigued, I asked them if they knew who the photographer was and was very...
