    Huey Pro Calibration

Are you printing them yourself or sending them off? If your sending them of get the ICC profiles from the company you are using to make sure they are seeing the same thing as you. I use theprintspace in London and they come out spot on from what’s calibrated on my screen.

    Canon 5D or 7D?

If your saying you want to do portraits etc then the 85mm 1.8 is more suitable than the 50mm 1.8 because it gives you a bit more space between you and your candid. On FF you would have to get up real close on the 50mm and puts people a bit on edge. There are numerous setups you can go for but...

    Huey Pro Calibration

Did you have a TV on or any ambient lighting shining on your screen when calibrating? I find it best to do it in complete darkness, you will find it looks strange when you first calibrate and tempted to change back. Give it a while and your eyes adjust. Either that or your unit is faulty!

It where you obtain a shallow depth of field to achieve an out of focus background. Some lenses do it well others don't and the 85 f/1.8 is top of the class.

Apart from all the obvious thats coming out i think its hard to beat the Canon 85mm f/1.8 for the price. Bokeh on this lens is great and on a FF camera its the perfect portrait lens.

    Macro Tubes

I agree Dave go with the Kenko tubes. You retain the AF etc with these unlike the cheaper versions.

    Canon 450D v 1100D

I would say get some nice glass for the 450D before upgrading as he will see more of an improvement than a body change.

    Best Canon Lenses

I Have to agree with this the build quality is terrible, my front element dropped out onto the floor. I think it was due to me using the Canon hood screwing and unscrewing must have broken the clips inside that keeps the element attached. IQ on the other hand is superb for the price, but...
