The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Hi everyone, I've been out of the 'game' for about 18 months. Currently have an Xpro1 with 35 f2, the lens is spot on but I'm finding the old Xpro1 is starting to have some problems with shutting down and card corruption, and the AF is lacking sometimes. In short I think it is time to switch it...

    Who'd be a Vegan

The thing is though, you don’t have to cut it out completely, just maybe reduce consumption to get all the positives and benefits. If you ate meat say twice a week you’d still be helping reduce the environmental impacts (not such an issue in this country) and improving your health. It doesn’t...

    Who'd be a Vegan

I think this stuff is primarily designed for people who want to try being vegan, or want to reduce their meat intake for whatever reasons but can't get away from wanting meat or preparing everything from scratch. I tend to assume for most people its because it is on trend at the moment. I guess...

    USB Microphone crackling and buzzing

Just to update this, I figured out that the mic was directly above my tower which is under the desk. I use a USB wifi adapter which was in a port directly underneath the mic, I moved the mic to the other side of the desk and it went away. I've now bought a USB extension cable and wired the wifi...

    An inherited family camera

Thanks for the info guys, I’ll do some more reading on it. I’ll try to grab a pic of the rangefinder too. I thought that that was what it could be but what would be the eyehole was so small I dismissed that thought! :p

    An inherited family camera

This may not be particularly interesting but I wanted to share this. Short story: I inherited my wife's grandfathers camera. Un-used in 40+ years, it works a treat. Longer version: My wife never met her grandfather, he passed away just over 40 years ago. Whenever we have visited her...

    USB Microphone crackling and buzzing

Hi all, I have a fairly cheap usb microphone that I use on my PC. It's been fine for a number of months but now I am told on zoom, discord and microsoft teams that I sound like a robot or that it sounds like there is a massive bee in the room. I tried different ports on the tower, that didn't...

    Fuji X100V. Strong opinions please

Strong opinion? They’re an awful lot of money if you’re unsure. They are no doubt fantastic cameras and perfect if all you ever shot was 35mm focal length or were just a street tog, but not an ‘only’ camera. Get a secondhand x100t or whatever the letter is for £500 to see if you like it.

    Old Lenses - Thinking Aloud

I may well have a bad one, it looks like it has a bit of fungus in it too, so I'm only using it until I purchase something else at that focal length.

    Old Lenses - Thinking Aloud

I'm using an e series nikkor 50mm currently adapted to my fuji and its pretty awful. Lots of flare, ghosting, lack of contrast and a general soft feeling which lacks any detail resolution. I've certainly used 50's which are a lot better. Maybe spotting a bad one is easier than differences...

Whats wrong with this "dirty" image, missed focus maybe ??

If your ss and iso are fixed the only other variable that exposure compensation can adjust is aperture, which opening up is often not ideal for landscapes as you often will be shooting at f8 - f11 to maintain sharpness throughout the scene.

Whats wrong with this "dirty" image, missed focus maybe ??

Sounds like you need a sturdier Tripod ;)

Whats wrong with this "dirty" image, missed focus maybe ??

Hmm, im only on my iPad at the moment so that may not be helping, but I think that you are simply seeing the results of an incredibly contrasty scene at pixel level. The snow and rocks are very complex, I suspect that youre expecting too much from the sensor. FYI, if you’re shooting static...

The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

I'm really rather tempted to pick up a 16-55. Is it truly as good as it's made out to be throughout the range wide open, and in the corners? I've been a prime shooter for the past few years but finding myself more and more wanting the convenience. Its very rare I shoot wider than 2.8 anyway...

    Worktop as a desk

Yes it's the best stuff to use on wood or wood veneer. I've got a walnut veneered worktop from IKEA as a desk treated with osmo and it is spot on.
