Thanks everyone, that's been really helpful for me. I'll let you know what I end up doing.

    New big zoom advice needed

That's good to know. I've waited years, so another month won't hurt :) Mostly wildlife. In fact, I'd say 90% wildlife. Hoping to get out to do some falconry experiences, and maybe out on one of the many safari experiences out there in the next couple of years. Other than that, whatever British...

Cheers folks. The Tamron intrigues me, I've had two other Tamrons in the past and they've been great. Anyone had much experience with these lenses? They all get pretty good reviews. Just wondering if anyone has any field experience with them.

    New big zoom advice needed

Hi folks, Been a little while since I've posted on here, but I know I can count on you guys for some sound advice. After a decade with the same kit, I've finally reached a point where I can afford some new stuff, but I need to make it count. I'm pretty much decided on the new body, but the...

Opinions needed - I'm not sure!

Agree with what everyone else has said really. First shot really benefits from the dark tone. I think the other two have slight composition issues that make the eagle look slightly uncomfortable in the frame, and also make the highlights distracting, rather than complimenting the image and lines...

    Skomer Island Puffins

Some lovely shots there. The composition of the first one is very nice, but if you don't mind my opinion, I think it would benefit from a slight reduction in brightness. If you have Lightroom or another Raw processing application, I'd be tempted to dial the exposure down a tiny amount, just to...

    Light painting - first go

Ha! That's what someone at work said too. I think next time I'll be a bit more wary of how long I eave the torch on. Thanks all for the comments. I'm definitely going to explore this technique a lot more.

    Walking in the Autumn Mist

Yep, that's a stunning shot. Lovely composition, great lines, and there's something about the softness of the mist that really feels nice.

    View from above

Yes, I like this very much indeed. Could easily see this in a magazine, the use of the high key stuff means lots of room for copy.

    Light painting - first go

Hi, A few of us at work have started a monthly competition to help stir us into action and get us out and about with the cameras. This month's theme was "At night" so I thought I'd try a bit of light painting as I'd not really tried it before. This was my effort. Came third (out of...
