A little trick we used to do years back was to reverse a 50mm lens and hold it against the lens on the camera. It worked back then, don't see when it shouldn't work today.

I purchased my grip from Link Delight (D200/S5Pro) over 2 years ago never had problem with it. As for batteries, try 7dayshop. Found their batteries to be just as good, if not better than Canon/Nikon originals. At one time you could by a pair of BP511 for less than a tenner, brilliant!

I can vouch for the Nikon 55-200mm, light weight and razor sharp. Fits in your pocket too if needs be, great lens. LCE have a few S/H at various locations all within your budget.
