Anyone used a Kood R72 Filter?

That's good news Ian, all we need now is for the sun to shine. Let us know how you get on. Enjoy.

S5 Pro raw files in Lightroom 2 vs Photoshop Camera Raw

I have an S5 Pro and I shoot Raw Files (24.5mb) all the time. When I open them in Photoshop (SC4) using the Raw File Converter they open as 12.1 megapixel files. Never, ever had any issues with image quality off the S5 Pro. It might be slow, but you can't fault it in any other department. In...

I've been offered an Epson R2880...compared to a Pro9000 mkII?

I have the R2400 running Permajet Inks (CIS) and Permajet Paper (Gloss & Oyster). If you use Permajet paper you can request custom profiles free of charge. In the 3 years of running this system I've never experienced clogged heads and I've made hundreds of prints (A3), mainly monochrome, but it...

An Informative Guide to Digital Infrared Photography

The world began its love affair with infrared photography back in October, 1910 when the Royal Photographic Society published, in its journal, a collection of images by American physicist and inventor, Robert Williams Wood (1868-1955). Wood has been described as the father of infrared...

    Infrared seascape

My experience is to very slightly under expose by around 1/3rd of a stop just to stop the highlights within the image blowing. Get your white balance right and everything else will fall into place. If it's of interest? you can read more here: www.in4red.co.uk

Macro photography without a macro lens?

A little trick we used to do years back was to reverse a 50mm lens and hold it against the lens on the camera. It worked back then, don't see when it shouldn't work today.

    Epson Stylus 1400 Monochrome Prints

With the R2400/2880 you have 4 black inks. A Photo Black/Gloss, a Photo Black/Matt, a Light Black and a Light Light Black. You only need to change your Photo Black depending on your paper choice (Gloss or Matt). Personally I prefer to print either on Gloss or Oyster paper so I never swap inks...

Can anyone recommend a decent tripod

I've owned a Manfrotto (055) for nearly 20 years, replaced the rubber feet a few times, but apart from that its perfect. Still have the original head, but prefer the 322 pistol grip for easy of use.

    Nikon D90 And Infrared

To be fair I've used both, converted and non-converted cameras and never had a problem with focusing issues. In fact, the Coolpix 995 I converted myself is sharper now after removing the hot filter. Personally, I would experiment with your D40 over your D90. If I remember correctly the D40...

    walk about

I too would recommend a G11 now that it has higher ISO capabilities and fewer megapixels.

would you buy a 5 year old lens?...

No I don't have a problem buying equipement over 5 years old, just so long as its in good working order and its not be abused! In fact, since Christmas I purchased 3 Tamron SP lenses (35-80/60-300 and the 70-150 f2.8 varisoft) all circa 1985, all in excellent condition. Granted, a lot...

    3rd Party 550D Battery Grip

I purchased my grip from Link Delight (D200/S5Pro) over 2 years ago never had problem with it. As for batteries, try 7dayshop. Found their batteries to be just as good, if not better than Canon/Nikon originals. At one time you could by a pair of BP511 for less than a tenner, brilliant!

What lens upgrade for Nikon D5000 ?

I can vouch for the Nikon 55-200mm, light weight and razor sharp. Fits in your pocket too if needs be, great lens. LCE have a few S/H at various locations all within your budget.
