Are you looking to buy new or used?
I came from a mainly Canon background to a quick do into nikon then on to Sony.
The Sony bodies are fantastic and easy to adjust to (the menu system isn't as bad as its made out to be, just set up your custom menu). There's also the sigma mc-11 adapter so...
That's what I'm worried about with the a6400. Ideally something like the a7r iv or a7s iii would be within budget but that's not on the cards for the time being!
Ill see what comes up first most likely and go with that. I'm probably leaning with the a7 iii at the moment purely because of the...
It's very tempting. My dilemma is whether or not I'd regret going for the smaller body size. Price wise the a6600 seems to be close enough to the a7iii but I'd be getting a crop sensor with potentially better focus or a full frame with a few less features such as eye AF in video.
I suppose the...
I had considered the a7c but the price increase over the a7iii doesn't strike me as a worthwhile step up.
I'll mostly be videoing my kids/pets and some stuff for YouTube, though that shouldn't be too difficult to catch as it'll be mostly static.
Being honest, I'm sure the auto focus of any...
Looking for a bit of advice here.
I've got an a7iii that I use for photography mainly and I'm looking for a second camera for video that I can leave mounted to a gimbal.
My choices are:
Another a7iii - I prefer the feel of the body and know the layout well. Not sure how important this is for a...
I'm by no means a professional photographer in any sense. I just got back into photography a few months back after being out for a few years.
When I did, the eos r was just out and price wise, much the same as the a7iii I ended up with.
The features of the more mature a7iii swung it for me at...
For the budget I'd recommend the A6300. It's a cracking camera and you should be able to find one with a basic lens for £500. I was in the same boat a few months back and I've been very impressed with the progress Sony have made with mirrorless.
Phone cameras nowadays are really very capable. Though a dedicated camera is probably going to handle better, I don't think the advantages of your IXUS would really provide a substantial difference.
I'd recommend taking a few test shots with both and comparing them on a computer though. Many a...
It's a bit like phones. New update every year or two and very little significant change for most. I for one am quite happy to be a generation or two behind with the A7iii - it's so good I can't imagine I'd notice much change in the A7RIV for my uses.
I can totally understand people being upset...
Having decided to treat myself to a sony a7iii about two months ago I genuinely couldn't be happier. Its exactly what I wanted for the kids and nails focus every time.
Ive managed to accrue a few of the sigma art lenses and they are amazing. The pick has got to be the 85mm art though. It's...
I've seen Canon 7d and nikon d7000 cameras go locally to me for not much over £200. If you an stretch to that then I'd recommend them. The 40d was a great camera but as others have mentioned, it's really old now and has a lot of missing features that are present in newer cameras.
How much are...
Right, well I'll just ignore the bluetooth functions then. That's the easy way.
For what I need, the remote functions on the app will save me buying a separate accessory (right now anyway!).
It does indeed. It sends a live stream and is pretty good actually.
So is there any point connecting the camera to my phone via Bluetooth? Or is Bluetooth designed for some other use?
I never said I couldn't get it to connect through WiFi. It's just not as convenient. I'd only ever be sending a small jpeg to my phone so that would be fine via Bluetooth. I was thinking more for the remote trigger options though.
Id rather use my phone than have to buy and carry about a...
Ok, so I'm trying to use the imaging edit app for android to connect to the camera and it's a bit of a pain.
I've got it connected via wifi but this means having to disconnect my phones wifi too - a bit of a pain. Has anyone managed to figure out if you can connect via bluetooth instead? It...
