Not sure if I should have credited definition to Wikipedia, so, there you go, I have.

    Grey imports

A grey market or gray market, also known as parallel market,[1] is the trade of a commodity through distribution channels which, while legal, are unofficial, unauthorized, or unintended by the original manufacturer. As suggested by this definition, grey market trading is not illegal, just is...

Jessops on the verge of administration

Now that would be hypocritical if I didn't pay the relevant taxes. Of course I do. China in itself is fast changing. In the 15 years that I have been working with various Chinese factories, I've seen massive change in employment conditions. Still not where we are, but moving closer.

Jessops on the verge of administration

Ash, sorry mate, don't mean to get into a big debate on the morals of individuals. I am interested, however, in the factors that are driving the meltdown of parts of our retail sector. Whilst Jessops had many factors contributing to its demise, the remaining photographic retail sector still has...

Jessops on the verge of administration

Ash, assume it was my "bizarre thing". Not being pedantic, but it is not avoiding but evading. Completely understand the global market. I own a business that has to have its products manufactured in China to achieve attractive global prices. I just don't break the law every time I import something.

Jessops on the verge of administration

John, the import issue is not so much grey imports in themselves. It is the tax evasion enabled by the business model of the HK internet stores well known on here. I suspect that without the prospect of evading VAT and import duty, most of the TP members who support the tax evasion model would...

Jessops on the verge of administration

Even in the case of a contractual redundancy scheme, I think the excess of the contractual scheme over the statutory payment will be treated as an unsecured creditor with little prospect of anything more than a small payment way in to the future.

Jessops on the verge of administration

I suspect that the speed of closure of all stores is as a consequence of having no "unencumbered" stock to sell to generate cash. This allows the administrators to continue trading, assuming that suppliers agree to fulfill purchase orders placed by the administrator. By unencumbered I mean no...

Jessops on the verge of administration

I might be wrong, but didn't Comet's administrators relent on not honouring vouchers/gift cards. So might be a glimmer of hope there. Just have to wait and see.

    Disney World

As spoony suggested, use the photo card system. Take your own camera as well, but keep it light and simple. If your budget allows, take in a few character meals. Great thing about the photo section of wdw website is that you can upload your own pics and then make up a photo book using your pics...
