    Safety tether?

Thank you very much for all your suggestions, I'm looking strongly into a bandolier-type of tether as I think that would be safest but also giving me enough freedom of movement too.

    Safety tether?

Wow! Lots of options by the sounds of it! Excellent, I'll have a look into all solutions suggested and work out which suits me better. Thanks guys

    Safety tether?

So, for the first time in 20+ years I have dropped and broken my camera :( I have arthritis in my left wrist joint and my right thumb joint, meaning I don't have full ability to grip like I used to. Most days I have the joints splinted for pain relief and support. I normally carry my camera on...

TV adverts that get on your nerves.

There's one at the moment that's doing my fruit in - dunno what they're advertising but it features someone repeatedly ringing a doorbell. Sends my dog loopy .

    Hard drive issues..

In my previous working lif, I was in IT. I have had some success of getting data off a drive which Windows couldn't read by booting into a Linux pc or running a Linux live-cd. But this depends on how techy/geeky you are, really.

    Camera insurance query

I have some gear which I don't have receipts for (and some stuff from eBay which I can't recall what year I bought it or stuff given as a gift etc). I explained to my insurer and they asked me to photograph said equipment with that days dated newspaper visible in the frame snd a close up of any...

How long have you been a photographer/ practicing photography.

Purely amateur photographer here. 22 years with my own (bought & paid for by me) camera - firstly a small Fuji bridge (602?), soon upgraded to a Nikon D100, although I did have to borrow some of Dad's lenses to start with. Using Dad's camera - off and on from the age of 8 or 10 I guess...

    WAMT....what annoyed me today!

Yes, it does in where i work - it's technically classed as "grazing" but unless we catch them actually in the act we usually can't do anything because they've eaten the evidence and discarded the wrapper, unlike 'proper' shoplifting. We also see it a lot with items like toothpaste - they open...

    Jury Service

Touch wood, I've never been called, and I wouldn't want to be really due to my hearing impairment, I know they have loop systems in most courts but any type of strong accent is non-understandable to me, plus beards and moustaches can make lipreading very challenging. My mum was called a few...

    Spotted a togger : Part 3

I'm curious - has anyone here spotted themselves or someone they know when scrolling through this thread?

How do you store and backup your files?

It was easier to set it up that way on the NAS and I liked the redundancy of the data being written to both drives at the same time - with rsync between two drives there would be a smallish gap when the data only lived on one of the drives, if that makes sense?

How do you store and backup your files?

I don't save anything to my PC, I download my photos to my NAS (two 8tb drives in RAID1), then the NAS automatically backs up the new photos to a external USB drive, once that is successfully completed the NAS then automatically backs up via Rsync over SSH to another RAID1 NAS which lives at my...

What Do You Do With The Shorter Days/Longer Nights?

I usually try to learn something about an area of photography I'm weak in - currently doing an evening class at college around studio lighting, so in-between classes I mess around lighting still life stuff etc. I only have my GCSEs and on a low income so course was reduced in price. I'm also...
