Just a quick update on my rather 1st world conundrum.
I've just spent a couple of day skipping through lightroom and comparing the 1Dx with the 6d and I can definitively see a real difference. This was further re-enforced when my wife has been looking for pictures for a photobook of the kids...

When using the center focus point of the 6d I do generally get more keepers but as soon as I switch to any of the other points, particularly the more peripheral ones, the keeper rate drops - even more so when using servo af.

Really didn't mean to take that sentence out of context - I was implying that I think you've hit the nail on the head.
It's a dreaded case of upgraditis with significantly reducing returns.
I most definately don't need a mk II but I would love one.

How well do the L lenses get on in the Sony ecosystem? I've got a few nice lenses that I love (135L) that I would be very reluctant to give up but I'm more than happy to admit that I'm really ignorant about other systems outside of Canon.
Thanks Phil, I agree although I love shooting with the 1dx, to carry that, a couple of lenses and usually a 4yr old is a pain. I do like the handling but....
