Right, so I've tried everything suggested here so far, and nothing is working to solve my video playback problem :( Does anyone have any fresh ideas I could try? Getting really frustrated that I can't view my videos properly, got some really good ones too!

I'll give that one a go, just need to find the software cd that came with the camera, or have a wee search on the fuji site for the pic/video viewer. Cheers.

VLC was one of the media player's I tried, still didn't work!

The other thing that may be worth mentioning is that the videos play back perfectly on the camera itself viewing on the small lcd screen. So it's something in the transition between camera and computer.

Hmmmm, just updated graphics card drivers, made sure have latest codecs, tried a few different media players, but still exactly the same stuttery play back :( I think that means that it's the camera. But why? What could be causing it?

So you reckon it's more likely to be a problem with my computer rather than the camera? If so, that's a relief! I'll give what you suggested a try now. Thanks.
