    after some advice

Sounds like this is a focusing issue at root. AF-C as mentioned above is definitely a good idea, but best used in combination with back button focusing. Don't have a D3000, but lots of info on bb focus here: http://improvephotography.com/4552/back-button-focusing/

Lee, did you share any of your shots in the critique section?

    Critique Downhill MTB Nordic Championship

Definitely lots of motion, but might have been nice to get a front on angle to capture the expressions too.

A few from my son's football game

Also think number 3 is the best - both for isolation and the emotion/dynamism.

Back to work Pre Season :-)

    Good moment to capture.

Not really sure what's meant to be going on in 4, but also think 5 is the best.

Very sad news. A wonderful contribution to photography and always posting something interesting on twitter, too.

Panning Practice at BSB Cadwell Qualfying

Agree. Also prefer when I can see the rider coming towards me; rather than their back as in the first two.

    Rugby Union

Don't appear to be able to see the photos. Am I alone with this?

    British Diving Championships

4 is my favourite - almost a tear drop/droplet shape mimicking water falling.

    Rugby League in Aus

    Really impressive set.

    Burghley horse trials

Not sure about the blue land rover in the background! Looks like a tricky location to get an angle on though. Perhaps a lower view point to focus on the height of the jumping motion?

Critique Tour of Britain - Stage 5

Number 1 is my favourite. I wonder if it would have been possible to get a different background? Perhaps the same panning technique but against the backdrop of a colourful moor?
