I had a 7D for over 5 years and think it's a great camera. I've recently sold it but only because I've upgraded and would have had no problem continuing to use it.

I use a 1.4x on my 100-400 and it is a great combination. I'm using it on a 7D2 though so auto focuses at f8.

Totally agree, your 24-105 will effectively become a 38-168 on a 70D, which is a totally different lens. If your trying to cut down on weight then you don't want to be carrying a wide lens as well, surely? So if I was you I'd lose the 24-105 and get a 15-85, which is effectively 24-136 and...

It's a lovely combo.

Was out late afternoon today to try the 5D3/24-70 combo in low light and found I really missed the length of the 15-85 on my 7D2. Might have to get a 70-200 even though I have a 100-400 Mk2.

Not sure I understand all this as there is no series 2 version of the 24-105?!

Why would Canon discontinue a very popular lens without a replacement? Saying something is discontinued might persuade someone to buy something else rather than wait for it to be in stock again?
