BBC 4: The Great British Photography Challenge

Is it my eyes or was the photo of the red flower in front of the white wall oof? It looked to me like the wall in the background was sharp and the flower soft, at best. I'm surprised nobody mentioned it, not even pointing it out and saying they liked it because of that.

    Haynes build your own TLR

Aye. I had the same thought, but thought half a rotation didn't seem enough. I suppose I'll have an idea when I actually put a roll in and turn the winding knobs.

    Haynes build your own TLR

Thanks all. Very useful info. There isn't a window on the back (something I just about remember from using film cameras years ago!), but there does seem to be a sprocket marker. I'm assuming it's one full revolution per frame.

My OH bought me one of these in WHSmiths in Truro while on holiday a couple of weeks ago, for me to make one rainy afternoon in the tent. I'm actually looking forward to shooting a roll of film in it. Not that I've bought any yet! Anyone actually used one? From making it there doesn't seem...

    Nikon Z* mirrorless

Still using SD cards here as I haven't yet joined the mirrorless revolution! I've always taken mine out too, but in the last few months I've had the plastic break between the contacts on the front edge of two cards. I don't know whether it's because of repeated removal and reinsertion or...

    NIKON REPAIR CENTRE

They closed down during lockdown and are now operating with reduced staffing. This will obviously cause a backlog and an increase in waiting times.

Thanks I might go for one. Is it the recon force edge you have?

Not in my back yard ... surely? *We have EVEN MORE cubs!*

I had been looking at the Browning ones on nature spy originally, but wavered and went for the cheaper option from Amazon, mainly because I didn't know if I was going to find anything in my back yard to justify the cost. Lesson learnt.

Not in my back yard ... surely? *We have EVEN MORE cubs!*

Yes I can see how that can happen, but I set the camera to 30 sec clips with a 2 minute gap and when I retrieved the files, the time stamps were almost exactly every 2 and a half minutes, so it just kept shooting a new video as soon as it could, nothing was there, except one clip in the morning...

I wish I'd seen this thread a week ago before I ordered an Apeman H70. It did capture a hedgehog on its second night out in the garden which was a pleasant surprise to us in our urban location. Things have gone downhill since then. I noticed an odd colour cast on daylight footage; The middle...

Upgrade from Nikon D7200 TO D500??

Following this thread with interest as I've been mulling over the exact same upgrade.

You can also use Google Earth. Tony Northrup did a video on it a few weeks ago. I was totally unaware it did it until then.

    Countryfile calendar photo competition.

The problem I have with the winning photo, is not just that it is staged, but it looks so staged, and not very imaginatively either. Not a great shot IMO.
