    D500

Thanks for your reply, I have bought the 200-500mm and yes its fairly heavy. I guess I can be classed as an old git, but luckily I am fit and agile, I think more than most gits my age. I hope to make the time in the next 2 weeks to use both the 70-200mm, and the 200-500mm.

    D500

Thanks again to each and everyone for your responses and advice. My boss gave me a lens 18 200 f 3.5 - 4 vrii to try, he's thinking of selling it , I am undecided about it. I have managed to buy the following lenses, all used and in good to excellent condition from Wex: 16-80mm vr, 50mm f1.8...

    D500

    Thanks to all the advice I have decided that I will definitely buy a Nikon 70 - 200 /2.8 ii and in about a months time the Nikon 200 - 500. I am still a bit undecided about a Nikon 24 - 120 f4 and /or a Nikon 16 - 80. Thanks to all that have replied.

Thanks for all the replies I really do appreciate it, I'm starting to form an idea. I've seen some recommendations for the original kit lens 16-80 any views on that? I don't mind going the used route.

    D500

After a long absence from the forum, I'm back now. Having sold my few bits of Canon gear I have taken the plunge and bought a used D500. In due course and with a limited budget I need to buy suitable lenses. What will the D500 owners recommend. Wildlife I'm thinking either Nikon 200 - 500 or...

The National Trust now charging for access to bluebells at Dockey Wood

As long as the money is used for conservation or maintenance of conservation then it is a good thing, just my opinion.

    Springwatch 2015

I have watched a few and to be honest am not a fan of Spring watch, but then neither am I a fan of Chris, I can see the educational and interest/ infotainment value for the general public. Although not exactly. the same I do prefer Country File. SWMBO is a great fan and so it will always be...

    Lightroom / Photoshop / Elements

Thanks for all the replies. After playing around with the trail version of Elements 13 I have decided that it is more than good enough for my limited skills. If I need to bulk convert from raw to jpeg I will use DPP.

    100 Strangers **Complete** 15th July 2016.

I am the same Dean and have often thought of giving this a go but then I do lack the confidence/ courage. Iain I have followed your first 100 stranger project since you have a lot from Cambridge. Have you ever had anyone turn your request for taking a picture down? You must have met a lot of...

    Lightroom / Photoshop / Elements

Thanks for your reply. If I understand correctly then in my case it would be more beneficial to have elements since I will not be doing any bulk edits and that LR will hardly be used. I have Elements 13 on trail and it seems to be enough for me at the moment.

    Lightroom / Photoshop / Elements

Thanks for your short and to the point explanation Denyer, I think I need to choose between Lightroom and Elements. I am only a hobby photographer and am not looking to create any special effects. It will be for lightening or darkening, straightening the horizon, cropping. and converting from...

    Lightroom / Photoshop / Elements

Thanks for the advice. I will certainly go the trial version route as long as I don't get pestered too much by Adobe into buying.

    Not to everyones taste ?

I agree totally, what a waste of venison. To the OP I think it is a great idea but must agree with others that the editing is a bit ott. (That is how I prefer rhubarb on a photo and not a plate)

    Lightroom / Photoshop / Elements

I have been using the free software supplied with the purchase of my Canon camera for photo editing but found it very limiting. What is the difference between Lightroom / Photoshop and Elements. I do not want to subscribe to Creative Cloud at all. It seems that LR 6 is capable of all I will need.
