Thanks for the heads up on these at Fairburn, it was great to finally see some. Love 2 &3 nice & sharp, No4 just not quite in focus but suspect bird was moving or about to take flight.

    We three Kings!

Thankyou it's nice to share such a rare(ish) event  Thank you - they drew a small crowd and thought they may be more timid but they seemed quite content flitting between perches and the weir.

    The Kingfisher Club

    We three Kings!

 I thought the same last year Yes the low light does dull them slightly but they are such a vivid color a little PP lifts things back a bit. Had to wait about 2 minutes they were quite active but mum and dad were a little more elusive, only popping out from time to time to check on...

    We three Kings!

Following on from my thread yesterday just a couple more KF pictures, I love these little birds, and I'm over the moon at seeing so many together. The three baby's I wish it would stop raining

    Reed Warblers

I like the second shot it's a nice pose. It looks like the light was challenging

    Goslings

The detail in the very fine feathers is very sharp, can see why you are pleased with the lens (I assume it's the 300mm f4 you describe in your signature?) It's not a criticism, but I cannot work out if the second shot has a green cast on the yellow head or whether it is because there is a...

    Your thoughts

Thats a pretty good shot for a grab shot. I think a minor tweak of the contrast in PP would make it look a tad better but overall impressive with the water drops trailing behind. Nice one:thumbs:

    Some KF's from today

Thanks for the comments, I only saw 2 last year and never got close enough to even get half decent pictures even with a 500mm lens! At Fairburn they can be clearly seen from the Kingfisher screen area. Yesterday the 3 juveniles were happy to sit out even in the rain, the parents had more sense...

Garden shot - Finches and Sparrows

Nice attempt, the birds are nicely in focus. As Chris says, get some perches around the feeders so they perch their on route to the food, and this makes for some more natural shots. Try "thistle seeds" in some feeders and you may also attract Goldfinches.

    Some KF's from today

In fact there were 5 but best I could get together was the 3 of them, there are 2 Adults and 3 juveniles. I think, but can't be sure that the middle one is the parent and the others are the young, as he had a fish and fed the one on the left. These are at Fairburn Ings Reserve, West Yorkshire

    Ringed Plover

You've done a lovely job with this, exposure and sharpness very good. I struggled to get clear shots of the few I saw alst year. Well done.

Not posted here for a while, but decided to brave the showers and get some fresh air. So pleased to see some Kingfishers to brighten up the day. Enjoy
