Adobe Black Friday Deal for Photographers

I have been taking advantage of the reduced Prime Day/BF deals for a couple of years, my CC subscription through previous offers is about 18 months in credit. The shift from standalone to "Software As A Service" is becoming the standard model, what I hope is that with the reduction in pirate...

    Adobe cc, Amazon, currys

I normally run my CC subscription about 18 MTS in advance and take advantage of Prime Day & Black Friday deals - as mentioned above you can simply keep tacking them on. I also got a free 2 months with the recent purchase of a USB 6TB HDD :)

    Some tips pls

Yup comes with the territory, always worth going out as the forecast can be very wrong :) I remember one evening it was reporting 10mile visibility & no cloud, where the reality was you could not see the end of the bonnet due to the torrential rain and 100% cover - it happens...

    Noisy Nun's Cross

Its one of those areas I need to do, I always fancied doing some of the sheep leaps on the Devonport Leat as well as some of the crosses. I had a great shoot of Windy Post after the firework competition in Plymouth. I did not think Windy would work, but was really impressed with the results :)...

1st go at a bit of astro

I am a big fan of Stellarium, it's a really nice bit of software, I use it a lot - a couple of screen shots, which I have used in presentations to camera clubs - I was trying to show how the sky changed over one night as well as how the sky changes through the year

1st go at a bit of astro

It runs on both android & iOS. The iPad is a marginally better experience, simply because you get a bigger screen so more real estate to play with - if you have both iPhone & iPad you will get a dual installation anyway - this is a pair of screen shots from both...

    A quick Astro 12 from 2018

Hi Nod, good to see you are still active :) I am sure our paths will cross at some stage... Many thanks, it's good to try to set challenges, but it does get harder as the years roll on... I have had a lot of success with Burgh Island over the years. It's always a pain to get to and you need...

    Noisy Nun's Cross

That has worked well, far nicer without the shutters. Did you do any of the cross?? One of those locations that has a chuffing great TV antenna in the other direction :). What was the EXIF ???

    Some tips pls

Ok best guide on meteors is the one produced by the team at PhotoPills, they do one every year - see https://www.photopills.com/articles/meteor-guide That covers nearly everything you are asking, have a read - the only thing on your settings is that I would up the ISO, I normally start at 3.200...

    A quick Astro 12 from 2018

I must admit they are far easier in the winter, just a shame that the main action happens at silly o'clock in the summer :)

1st go at a bit of astro

It easier to see when you have the app - the milky way moves across the sky in a similar way to the sun and the moon, so it will rise in one part of the sky, move across the sky then set in a different direction - it's compounded by the core not being visible all the time, so its only visible...

1st go at a bit of astro

Possibly the most useful is PhotoPills, this is an amazing app with lots of details & works on both IOS & Android - https://www.photopills.com/ PP allows you to select your location - so the dotted half circle, shows the direction of the milky way - this example is the Sea Arch at Dawlish...

    A quick Astro 12 from 2018

I think this is the 11th year I have done a monthly astro shoot - I must admit it's never easy as some months are dire & the weather gods conspire to spoil the views while other months could easily fill all 12 shots... Anyway, here you go... · January – Super Moon over Hay Tor. I had...

1st go at a bit of astro

I would suggest trying to get something a bit more interesting in the foreground, you can work with anything, it just needs to add some interest. Also try using a star app to find something interesting in the sky, you can also use puddles to use as mirrors, etc - but welcome to the dark side :)
