RC Drift Cars - Sufficiently challenging

I've been into RC for a long time so this was a fairly logical leap for me. Its great fun but a steep learning curve, when I visited the club I was given a go of some very powerful cars which wern't fun for a beginner. I've since built my own with a much lower power system and its amazing to...

Drift test day - Teesside Autodrome

I think it might have been the first one since they've opened. I was mostly on the last corner of the smaller track, you're level with it and can get pretty close to them. I had to wear a hi-vis though.

RC Drift Cars - Sufficiently challenging

Yeah a bit cheaper! Thanks, they were a nightmare for focus. No video, gonna try and do that next time, hopefully in better light. My biggest problem is getting everything low enough to shoot it convincingly. I think the photos would probably have more drama about them.

RC Drift Cars - Sufficiently challenging

Another expensive hobby I'm thinking about getting into. I visited a local club and they invited me to a demonstration they were doing at a car show. I was met with the dimmest, oldest, greenest fluorescent-ly lit room I've ever had this displeasure of shooting in. I think all of these are...

    Russian Green Pixel CRT

Nixie tubes are a bit different. I asked the owner of this tube about nixie tubes and he reckons they're good for a couple thousand hours, so probably not a clock to leave on permanently. They do look fantastic though and there's some interesting variations with VFD tubes which we intend to...

    New lighting project 2

Garry, its all manual with a studio head. Given my tight quarters I fired down onto my curved BG and flagged the top of the tankard. The engraving is very dull, I'm thinking it doesn't suit brightfield. My image out of camera isnt clipped, the background is anywhere from high 230's to low 250's...

    New lighting project 2

This is something I need way more practice in. I had a go today with this tankard. I didn't have enough room to set up a softbox as the background so its a white board curved and a piece of glass to set the tankard on. My biggest struggle would be trying to keep the engraving visible, haven't...

if you could only have 3 lenses.

I use a 17-40, 24-70 and 70-200 but in an ideal world I'd like to run 35, 85 and 135 primes. I borrowed and shot a headshot with the Canon 135 f2 and its stunning. I use 35 and 85 primes in filmmaking as well when I get the chance.

    Russian Green Pixel CRT

Thanks man, I'm pretty happy with it, some bits I'd like to change if I had more space/time with it.

    Russian Green Pixel CRT

Another still life shot to ease the lockdown boredom. This ominous glowing thing is a green pixel crt tube invented by the Soviets. It's essentially a green pixel for a large format display. A friend of mine managed to get a couple from Ukraine and brought his setup round for me to photograph.

Critique FIRST ATTEMPT AT WATER BALLOONS

The balloon is stretched and wants to spring back to its smallest state. When you pierce the balloon the hole you make will open and spread to the opposite side of the balloon, thanks to the evenly distributed pressure of the water. That is to say, if you pierce at the bottom, the balloon will...
